481 + 377 Weeks

We have had a very busy week.  And I forgot to write this post last night.  I have done this blog every Thursday for over nine years, yet sometimes I still forget!  And right now as I type this on Friday morning it is my birthday.  Arley's already had a big meltdown this morning, but we're all good now.

Lolo and Dida and Uncle Sting left on Sunday.  The kids were SO upset.  We saw them on the Saturday before they left.  We went to the Hoey Moey pub and had a play on Park Beach.  It was Dida's birthday.  It was a lovely day, but the goodbyes were bad, and poor Carmie cried for a good hour afterwards.  She loves her family and wishes they would all live here.

We spent a morning at Sawtell beach.  It is really beautiful there.  The water is still cold, and we're looking forward to it warming up, but the kids and Jeffrey still managed a swim.  On Wednesday I took the kids to Urunga to meet the Nambucca homeschool group.  It was quite awkward and I think it will take us a few tries to feel comfortable.  The good news is that a friend of theirs from Alithia was there, and he ended up coming back to our place for a play, and then later his mother, brother and sister came over too.  I'm happy that the kids have two friends here.  And Urunga might just be the most beautiful place I have ever seen!

Horse riding bombed again, but really bad this time.  The kids' instructor had organised a treat for them.  They joined a few other kids and took their horses on an adventure down to the river.  It is just beautiful there, and you'd think anyone would love it.  But Arley was too stressed.  They all had to go on lead ropes because they were on a road, and in Arley's mind, only babies or absolute beginners go on lead ropes.  He hates to be told what to do, and also to be treated as an inferior, and that is what he thought was going on.  Apparently he was incredibly rude to the instructor and his wife, as well as the other kids, for an hour!  It all comes down to his anxiety level.  If he gets anxious, he goes immediately into fight mode.  I am just amazed that he didn't back down.  One thing is for sure, no one should ever mess with Arley!  Anyway, so that equine centre isn't going to work out.  There is one more here to try, and if that doesn't work out, I think we will just get lessons for Carmie and not Arley.  It's way too stressful otherwise!  It's such a shame though :(

Yesterday Carmie had her last day at Alithia.  They put on the play Macbeth, and it was really cute.  Carmie was Banquo, a murderer, and a soldier.  Last night Carmie read the Cliff notes for Macbeth and then took a quiz online.  She is questioning why they chose such an adult play for them all to do!

Anyway, I'd better get off now and go join the family.  We have a big day ahead of us, but more on that next week!
