64 Weeks

This week Carmen had a little cold.  And it was either her sniffles or the fact that she might be teething (isn't it always the fault of teething?) that caused her to become the clingiest whiniest little monster with severe separation anxiety.  I couldn't be more than two feet from her without a meltdown.  And God forbid I try to walk away to get her a glass of water!  So I left Carmen and Jeffrey home by themselves on Saturday morning, and apparently she was a little angel!  She saves it all up for lucky me!  Anyway, despite all of this, we had a good week.  Carmen had a playdate with her little friend Hunter.  On Saturday we took her to Mollymook Beach where she discovered that she loves to paddle and splash around in the water.  Last summer when we took her to the beach she cried her eyes out when we put her in the water.  I'm so glad she likes it now - summer is going to be fun.  On Sunday we took Carmen to Narrawallee Beach for a romp around, and she fell face first into the water and didn't even whimper.  I got a bit cranky though, because I had a total sand monster to deal with!  But she had a great time.  I am so excited that winter is over!

63 Weeks

Well, we have had a busy week-end.  We bought a new sofa set (so much living space in our new house!), drove up to Nowra to buy a new fridge (happy early birthday to me!), visited Bendalong Beach, completed numerous household chores, brewed beer, and enjoyed wine on our patio.  Carmen has turned into my little angel and is such a good little girl.  She runs all around the yard, picks up sticks, 'helps' me rake leaves, and 'helps' me with the laundry (she likes to throw grass in with our clean clothes when I take them off the line).  She has several balls she is getting good at kicking, and she has taught herself to climb up on the patio furniture, and hasn't even fallen off yet!  She is getting to be a little more independent and some days I can even get the dishes done while she plays alone in her playroom (small steps!).  And to top it all off, the weather is getting lovely!

59 Weeks, 60 Weeks, 61 Weeks & 62 Weeks (Bloody Telstra!!)

Well, we have spent almost a month without Internet, thanks to the ineptitude of Telstra, who has a complete monopoly on it.  I can't believe that at one point not so long ago we actually lived without Internet!  It has been painful!  But, the good news is that our move into the new house went smoothly.  We only moved around the corner, and it took two full days of moving (thanks Jeffrey and Geoffrey!)  And I spent weeks packing and unpacking, but we are finally settled in and SO much happier!  We have so much more room now, and a back yard too.  Carmen spends all day outside, and I just can't believe that we lived without a yard before!  And we can actually have people over now, as we have room to put everyone.  We had the family over for Father's Day, which was really nice.  Spring is here and the weather is lovely (although it is forecast to rain all of next week).  I have planted seeds in my two veggie boxes, so we'll see if my thumb is green.  Carmen is getting bigger and bigger, but still not saying many words.  She still loves to say gagoong, and we still don't know what it is but think it is food related.  She says all kinds of animal noises, and she says car car (for car) and kooka (when she hears a kookaburra).  Much to her grandmother's dismay she still won't say Grandma - and she won't even try, just stares blankly. Also, if Carmen could walk up and down steps all day (with help), she would.  It is her new obsession.  She also likes to pick up sticks and put them in a bucket, which is very handy!  As for me, I have another show coming up in two weeks, with the exhibition opening on October 1st.  Busy busy busy.  Sorry about all of the photos below, but there are four weeks worth!

59 Weeks, and moving day.
