183 + 79 Weeks

This week was a fairly ordinary week, with scorching hot weather, thunderstorms and lots of rain.  We made it down to Dolphin Point one day, and have decided this is our favourite spot to take the kids - it is so beautiful, with tons of sand and shallow water.  Arley spent most of his time there picking up wet sand and throwing it into the water, and Carmen walked across the inlet with her dad.

Carmie started back at school this week, and was very excited to be in the big kids class.  But this excitement didn't last for long when she got pushed over by a boy for no reason.  I have found the carers there to be quite ineffectual regarding roughness.  Luckily a Montessori day care is opening up in a few weeks, and I am booking Carmie into that school instead.  She will be sad to say goodbye to her friends, but I think it is much better for her, and I am very excited about the different education that she will be getting.  Arley will start there when he is two, can't wait!

Arley has been a little sick lately.  Very hoarse and fluey.  The kids both got their latest shots this past week (thanks for taking them in Lolo), and the doctor diagnosed this rash on Arley's mouth as a staph infection, so he is on antibiotics for the week.  He is a total terror when he is not feeling well, but when he is well, he is such a sweet little guy.  This morning he was looking at his star blanket, saying "Star.  Star.  Star." over and over again.  He also can say about 1/3 of the alphabet.  He rarely says mummy though.  He got in to trouble throwing things on the floor when he was standing on a step stool and wanted to get down, and I said "Arley, next time call for Mama and I will come get you!  No throw!"  About 15 minutes later he was back up on the step stool, and it took me about 10 minutes to register that he was saying, "Mama, Mama, Mama" because he wanted to get down.  He must have patiently said it 50 times.  He has lost a bit of weight too, but he is happily fitting into his size 2 clothes.

Here are 3 videos of Arley being read to.  They are from about a month ago.  They are a little repetitive, but they are pretty funny when you get to the end.

And a quick one of Carmie at the carnival last week:

And last but not least, Carmie being a ballerina - you won't believe she's never had a lesson ;)
