187 + 83 Weeks

This week the weather has still been unseasonably cold and rainy for summer, so we have been indoors a lot.  We have been baking, dancing, playing games, practicing writing, drawing, pushing cars around and throwing balls.  And that about sums up our life.  Arley is obsessed with his abc's at the moment, and begs me to sing the alphabet song over and over.  He knows most of his letters by site, and most of his numbers up to 10.  He is certainly talking more, but still getting frustrated, and boy does he have a temper on him when things don't go his way.  He can destroy the playroom in a matter of minutes if he has a mind to it, and he often does.  I don't know where he has learned to throw toys in anger, but he does it all of the time.  On a good note, he started up swimming lessons again, and he was great.  There were only a couple of instances when things weren't going well, but so much better than last term.  Arley has this strange issue of lying on his back - when he falls on his back, he lies prone, arms and legs outstretched, and whines but won't move until someone picks him up.  He has always been like this, and will literally stay put, not moving an inch.  Funnily enough, he does the same thing when I float him in the pool - he just lies there whining but won't move, and his swim teacher was amazed at his floating ability.  I didn't tell her about his lying-on-his-back defect, I just let her think he was a wonder child, first lesson and already floating :)

As for Carmie, she had another great week at school.  They tell me that she spends her indoors time divided between the Montessori room and painting, and her outside time is spent playing with all of the children, and that she is very social.  This makes me happy, as at her old school she just stuck to her close friend Cassie, I think because she was intimidated, but now she seems to have come out of her shell.  She is going through a growth spurt at the moment too, and has grown a centimetre in one month.  She is not napping any more, and is handling it very well, without too many upsets in the course of the day. She is very excited, as the weather is getting better, and we have plans of bike riding and going to the beach this week-end.
