This week was fairly ordinary, with Arley still coughing away, lots of night wakings, but not much drama. On Wednesday night I didn't get to sleep until after 4am, because Arley was up from 11:30 till 2:30 coughing and crying, and having to get up to tend to him in the freezing cold woke me up so much I couldn't sleep. So, Thursday was fun! But for the most part, the kids have been in good spirits. Carmie had her friend Vanessa over for a play date, and we made a piñata for the kids' birthday party. It was really cold that day, but the kids still played outside, oblivious to the weather. We also got the kids playing at Mollymook park, and then we took them to a cafe. The kids have also been doing lots of painting, and Arley's favourite pastime at the moment is stamping his trains in super sand. Carmie is reading like you wouldn't believe - she's moved beyond all the learning to read books and easily reads regular (kids) books. At night we are reading together my all time favourite kids books, "The Enchanted Wood" and "The Wishing Chair". It is so nice to be able to read chapter books with her now :)
The kids are very excited for their birthday tomorrow. Arley is desperate to get these three Thomas trains he has been waiting for. I told him the Fat Controller was sending them from Sodor for his birthday :) and he has been waiting on them for months. Carmie can't wait to have all her friends over. I am a little sorry to say that their birthday party is going to be a high sugar party (it all started with the piñata!). So, we expect a lot of very hyper kids here tomorrow!
Here is a quick video of little Arley being happy then getting grumpy, as he is wont to do! :)
