We are settling in well to our little stay-at-home life now. I find that there are so many things that I want to do with the kids, I just can't come close to getting them all done. We have a pretty nice routine - they both usually jump into my bed first thing in the morning and we read books together. After breakfast they have a play on their own (and sometimes they don't even fight!). We usually do some morning activity: pool, beach, gardening, park or games. Carmie reads intermittently throughout the day, her latest obsessions being the human body and natural disasters (fun stuff!), as well as dinosaurs. They play math games on their phones, and they are hooked on the dance videos on GoNoodle. At around 3 o'clock they get some time on their iPads, and I get a couple of hours of work done until dinner time. Then it's dinner, play, bath, books and bed. The kids are much happier than when they were going to preschool. Arley is SO much better behaved. He still can be really naughty, but it feels like it's his last hurrah, and pretty soon he'll know what the limits are and not try to push them. And I LOVE not having a morning rush and not packing school lunches!
This week New Year's Eve came and went. We let Carmie stay up for the 9 o'clock fireworks. She felt very grown up, and toasted our champagnes with a glass of sparkling Ribena. Carmie has also been asking when the carnival is coming back to town, for at least six months now. She didn't know it was back, so one night after we put Arley to bed, I surprised her by telling her to go get dressed because we were going out. She was beyond excited when she realised where she was when we arrived, it was too cute. She went on all the rides she wanted, played the clowns a couple of times, and ate fairy floss (much to my unease!). She had so much fun, but of course was totally wired when we got home and didn't fall asleep until after 10pm.
We also took the kids to Funland again, and out for ice-cream. It is their favourite family day out treat to do, and Jeff and I suffer through it. The kids and I have also started taking our dog Bella for walks together. They are short walks, because Arley's little legs get tired as Bella likes to walk quite quickly, but we are working on getting the walks longer. All in all, we had a lovely week.

We had a half birthday celebration for the kids, they are now 5 and a half and 3 and a half!

Reading to her ponies, so cute!
The basketball hoop was a Christmas present, and is a total hit!
