It was such a good week this week. We started out on Friday with Jeff's birthday. The kids were so excited - they planned for him to sleep in and have breakfast in bed, and then unwrap his presents, and they were too cute. We spent the morning at home (Arley was rather naughty!), and then we met Mum and Geoff at the Golfy for a drink and to do the child hand-over. When we got home, we immediately crawled into bed for a nap (it is very telling when the first thing you do when you are child-free is sleep!). Jeffrey and I had dinner out, and then a movie night, and actually got to sleep past 7 the next morning. As much as we love the kids, it really is the best present ever to get a bit of alone time!
We had a couple of rainy days this week, so I took the kids to the movies. It was their first time at the cinema, and they were pretty excited. We saw Boss Baby, which was the perfect movie for both of them. We went on a Tuesday morning, so there were only six of us in the theatre :) We also went to the library, because Carmie wanted to borrow more of her natural disaster books - a rather unusual reading choice for a five year old, but we're going with it! We also had a playdate with Arley's buddy Dusty - the two of them are getting along so well, it is awesome to see.
We have also had some lovely weather too, so we are making the most of beach exploring before the weather turns colder. We had dinner at Collers Beach again, and the kids discovered all of the rocks there and found a love of climbing them. So good for their agility, not so good for my heart! We also had a lovely play date with some other homeschooling friends, down at the harbour rocks. The kids get along so well, and they really could have stayed all day. They began by collecting shells and rocks, and then they discovered all of the starfish that were hiding down there, so the shells and rocks got tossed back in favour of bags of water and starfish collections. It was so much fun. After the kids' friends left, we stayed down there for a picnic lunch and some reading out in the sun. Then we came home to our new climbing wall extension that our builder had installed for us. The kids love it! Then we rushed off to Aikido, Carmie's third class, which she loves. We have been so busy lately, I am almost looking forward to a bit of colder weather so that we are forced to stay home more often!
Such a lovely week. :)
