321 + 217 Weeks

I'm trying to remember all that we did this week...it all seems a bit of a blur.  We had a picnic at Narrawallee with the kids' friends Ness and Alex, and Willow and Finn, and their parents, of course.  Ness's mum Sarah brought their kayak, and 'borrowed' a canoe, so the kids had a blast paddling around the inlet.  I have wanted to take the kids out in a boat for the longest time, as Arley has been desperate to go in one, but I thought there would be no way he would sit still and enjoy it for long.  But I was so wrong!  We couldn't get him out!  He just wanted to cruise around all day floating on the water!  I want to get kayaks now so we can take the kids out, because he just loved it so much!  And it made him so calm!!  It was a lovely day, and the kids had fun together, and got very wet and sandy.  Somehow my kids haven't learned to not go into the water with all of their clothes on, shoes and all.  Again and again they do it, no matter how uncomfortable they get.  And then they have to spend all day wet, cold and itchy.  Or maybe it's me that has to learn, I should leave extra clothes in the car!

The kids spent Monday at their grandparents' while Jeff and I drove out to Bungendore to do some work and visit with our friend.  And we had lots of inside time this week.  We played tons of games - we are trying to help Arley with his poor winning and losing skills.  He is learning to lose with dignity as opposed to screaming at everyone in a 12 mile radius.  Slow but steady!  Today we went bowling with some friends from our homeschool crew, and he actually won the game (with the help of bumpers and ball ramp), so no dramas there.  Afterwards the kids' friends came over to our house for a play, and then we took the kids to an art opening, so it was a pretty full-on day.

Arley has had ups and downs this week.  We are plugging away at it, trying to be there when he needs us.  It's super hard though, but as my friend Deb said to me, he's making a warrior out of me :)

Here is a video from the snow that I forgot to add to last week's post:
