Despite the huge amount of rain that came down this week, we still managed to get the kids to the beach twice. The first time, we took them to Pebbly Beach to explore the awesome rock pools there and to see some kangaroos. It was nice to be out. Arley and I collected rocks for our garden, and Carmie became a bird whisperer. Arley on the other hand, got bit by a bird, because he decided to poke it in the belly.
We spent a lot of the rest of the week indoors because of the torrential rain. One afternoon we had Carmie's friend Hannah over after her school day for a play. Another day Arley and I went up to Nowra for his last OT session for the year. Arley was pretty fussy all week. He's not so big on tantrums any more, instead he is persistently fussy. The good news is that he has found a love for colouring in, and spends quite a lot of time sitting at his little desk colouring. We have been working on figuring out a schedule for the kids so that Arley has a bit more structure to his day, and so that Carmie does something other than read. I have set it up so that they can organise their activities themselves, so fingers crossed that it works.
Today the rain finally broke so the kids and I hit the beach. It was the most beautiful day, but the tide was high and the waters were a little rough. The kids had a blast running in and out of the waves and paddling, and it is the first time they played down at the water on their own. It holds a lot of promise for a more relaxing summer!
