365 + 261 Weeks

The kids turned seven and five on Monday!!  And I'm SO glad their birthday is over!  There is always such a big build-up to it every year, and it can really get quite stressful!  We decided to do a low-stress birthday party though, which worked out really well.  We had it on Sunday at Funland - they do a package deal where the kids get an hour of unlimited games and a bumper car ride, and we provided all of the food (difficult because of the kids' special diets, but we did cut them some slack on their birthday).  The kids had a blast.  A couple of friends couldn't make it, which was good because we still had twelve kids in all, and I think more would have been hard to manage.  Poor Carmie got a bit sick at the end (too much food she's not used to?) and Jeff had to take her home a little early.  The good thing about having the party at Funland was that afterwards we just had a few dishes to do and we could put it behind us.  Carmie bounced back fairly quickly, which was good because her friend Hannah came over for a play in the afternoon.  For the kids' actual birthday on Monday I took them to the movies to see The Incredibles 2, and then to a cafe for lunch.  The kids both decided to have smoothies and chocolate cake for their birthday lunch, and Carmie got sick again!  We had to hustle out of there.  I think she needs to be on low sugar - every time she has any her tummy is upset.  Arley was incredibly volatile on their birthday.  The night before, I came in from working in the studio at 11pm, and he was still wide awake with his lamp on, reading!!  11pm!  And then he didn't sleep in the next morning, so he was pretty atrocious all day.  Lolo and Dida came over in the afternoon after Jeff got home form work, so we could open presents (we had a music theme this year, and it went down a hit!), and right afterwards, Arley had the biggest meltdown of his life.  Ugh.  Not such a great ending to their birthday.  He was just so tired.  He wasn't good the next day either, because I think it actually took him a full two nights'  sleep to feel better.

So, Arley has had a tough week, but the last few days have been good.  He can be so so sweet when he is level, he is like Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde.  Carmie is still making us breakfasts in the morning, and has been a real trooper putting up with her brother.  She got a bunch of books and a gift certificate to the bookstore for her birthday, so she is in heaven at the moment.  I actually have to hide the book she is reading to get her to do anything!

Today was Lolo's birthday, so we had morning tea over at their place.  We also made it to the harbour for lunch this week.  Other than that, we spent most days prepping the house, and prepping for their birthday, and I work until 11pm every night.  Our house has officially gone on the market today.  As for the Port Macquarie house, we have pulled out of the deal, as the building and pest reports came back and we didn't like what they said.  We would rather move into a house that we know is sound than one that needs structural work!  So, we are disappointed, but it gives us more time to sell our house, and I can focus on painting again.  In the meantime, I am on the lookout for the perfect house in Port Macquarie.  :)
