This week has been better than last, thank goodness, although I seem to be coming down with another cold, which doesn't surprise me. I've been feeling on and off for a little while, and it is finally starting to hit properly. However, the kids and I had a lovely morning at Wildlife HQ this morning. That's the zoo where Arley's beloved capybaras are. It was one of our most successful outings, with no stress whatsoever! The kids were totally chill and we had fun, which makes me very hopeful for future outings.
Today Carmie decided to quit her job. She has been teaching Procreate to some kids every Friday, but she confided in me that she's been really burnt out and not feeling very good and she didn't want to do it anymore. Carmie was too scared to call her boss, but I had her type up her resignation plus explanation, and she did a great job. I'm proud of her.
On Saturday I took a morning to myself and went to an alla prima painting class, and I bloody loved it! I am going to try to set aside every Sunday to do painting. Fingers crossed.
We made it to Taekwon Do this week, and to horse riding, and Arley got up on a horse again, which he hasn't done in ages. He was riding this little pony called Muffin, and he was quite happy. Carmie kicked butt on Chilly, who she adores. Carmie did all of the groundwork by herself this week, which includes getting Chilly form the paddock, grooming, cleaning hooves, carrot stretches, and saddling. Chilly is a very dopy horse with a sweet nature, and Carmie loves him.
On Friday mornings Clint has been coming to our place to pick Arley up and take him out. They have tried fishing again, but Arley doesn't seem very into it. They've done park plays and rock pools. Now I think Clint is going to start teaching Arley survival skills. Last week they went to Buderim Falls, and Arley was NOT happy. He didn't want to go, he locked himself in my bedroom, caused a bunch of drama and only agreed to go with a bribe. He likes Clint, he just doesn't like going anywhere without me. But we are persisting!
Arley's teeth are changing before our eyes. He is about three or four weeks into the 16 weeks that he needs to wear the expander appliance. The gap between his front teeth is growing wider and it is really exciting to see. Also, his new med is making him hungry and he has gained almost 2kg! It is amazing to see him eat! And he's added in three new foods to his diet - so good!
Arley all of a sudden has been asking for a bike. He used to be able to ride, when he was six, but since moving north, he hasn't been riding, and the last time he tried again it was an absolute meltdown disaster. We sold his last bike and I had given up, but he has been asking again! So I bought him a bike off FB and Mum and Geoff picked it up and brought it over this morning. He is so excited, and actually asked me to take him out to learn to ride during his computer time this afternoon, which is unheard of!! He didn't quite get the hang of it, but he is so close, and best of all, no meltdowns!
And the kids have been getting along so well, like they are actually becoming friends! They play with slime together all the time, and we hear them having conversations, and Jeff and I are always amazed but so happy. It's so nice to hear them chattering away.
Now if only I could stop sneezing!
