Well, what a week! So much has happened this week. Easter came and went. It was Arley's first real Easter where he participated properly in the egg hunt. Carmie and Arley were both so excited all day, it was very cute. They got quite a few chocolate eggs, as well as some plastic eggs filled with little toys, and they were very happy with both. Surprisingly we haven't had to deal with much begging for chocolate either, it is almost like they have forgotten that they have a chocolate egg collection to get through. On Easter Sunday we went to the farm for a family brunch, as the kids' aunty and cousins had come down from Bowral, and Uncle Sting and his girlfriend Jess came down from Sydney too. Arley wore his Easter bunny ears the entire day. I noticed that he didn't eat much food all day, but he devoured dinner, and then we were blessed with him waking us up at 2am crying out, "Get me out of this sticky poo!" He had vomited in his bed, the poor guy, and he didn't know what it was. It was absolutely everywhere, and a violent shade of purple due to the blueberries he had eaten with dinner. I stripped his bedsheets, and then I was too scared to put him back in his own bed (my irrational fear of him aspirating wouldn't leave my mind!), so I brought him to our bed. He proceeded to keep us awake until 5am, begging for us all to get up for the day, and singing his favourite song Father Finger. He finally fell asleep for two hours, but only because I let him share my pillow and put his knees in my back. Fun times. (I have since been told by one of his carers at school that there is a tummy bug going around - great, just what we needed!)
And speaking of waking up, Carmie has been waking us up every single night again, with complaints of being too hot, too cold or scared of the dark, or just wanting to chat. I have bribed her tonight and she gets a jellybean in the morning if she doesn't call out to us. Fingers crossed!
We also had Jeffrey's 45th birthday this week. Carmie was so very excited for her dad's birthday. We had plans to take the kids to school for the day, then have cake here in the afternoon with the kids and Lolo and Dida, and then the kids were going to go back to the farm with them to stay the night, and Jeff and I were going to go out to dinner and drinks for his birthday, then sleep soundly all night and then sleep in the next morning. Our plans were completely foiled. We got a call at 12:30 to pick Carmie up from school as she was sick. AAAAGGGGHHHHH! Jeff went and got the kids, as I was busy making his cake. When Carmie got home, she had a fever of 38.5, the poor thing, and she was very lethargic. We gave her medicine, and her fever slowly came down. She was well enough to happily join us for Jeff's cake, and by the end of the night, she was well again. But by that time it was too late and we were in for the night. So typical! I think we will have a quiet weekend so that both kids can relax and get healthy!
Something else good happened this week: Arley potty trained! He is officially out of nappies and into underpants. It was only two days of a couple of messes, and he hasn't had any kind of accident in six days, and he is even in underpants at night too. What a breeze he was to toilet train, I am so happy about it. And for the last two days, he has been a little nicer too, and is even saying good morning to his dad. He received two trains for completing his potty training sticker chart, and he has been happy as a clam ever since :)
Here are two movies from this week:
Easter egg hunt
Arley and his trains
The kids' trip to the neighbourhood park with their dad :)
