We have had a rainy busy week. Luckily the gumboots that I bought for the kids arrived in time for them to do some serious puddle-splashing. One morning Arley woke me up and immediately asked if we could go outside. So, I took him outside, and he was having a grand old time. Then we got a visit from our new neighbour, a guy pushing eighty, and he told us all about how he used to splash in puddles, and how he used to spend all day playing in mud down at the creek. He said to Arley, "Splashing in puddles is fun, isn't it?" Arley screamed back, "NO! IT ISN'T FUN!!" That's my boy. The poor old man said he felt the rain starting and headed back in side, rather confused.
This weekend, the kids went to the farm for an overnight stay, and Jeff and I headed to Bungendore for my art opening. It was a great day despite the bad weather - I sold four paintings and got two commissions (to add to the one I am working on at the moment). And then we celebrated all night with good friends Xanthe, Beef and Ben. It was a late night, with little sleep, and I was quite a zombie the next day, but it was all worth it. Meanwhile, the kids had lots of fun with their grandparents and I'm sure, were spoilt rotten.
The weather has been really rainy, so we have been doing quite a few indoor things - painting, crafts, games. On Monday while Carmie was at her Montessori day, I took Arley to a playgroup around the corner, and he loved it, making two new friends. It is really good to see him interacting with other kids without Carmie around, because usually he just follows her everywhere. It's definitely good for him. On Wednesday we took the kids to Zippity Doo, the indoor play centre at Batemans Bay. It was a complete madhouse there, truly a miserable place for any parent to be, but the kids had a blast. We stayed almost three hours, and had to force the kids to leave! Today I took the kids to the story time and craft session at the library, which they always love. Afterwards we went to a park so they could burn some energy, and then they begged to go see the little fossil gallery in town. Arley wanted to pick up every single fossil, but they were really good there and at least let him touch them.
All in all, a good week :)
Arley has been keeping his maths skills secret from us. He surprised us with this the other day:
I knew he was beginning to read though:
Carmie wanted me to give her a go too:
Newfound love of playing in puddles
Jeff gets fashionable when he gets chilly
Good times after my show :)
Carmie made her own French toast again
His patience!
Bear is loving all purple at the moment
His very own all-purple crown
At the fossil gallery
Word games with Mum
Tonight they chose painting instead of bedtime reading
