Arley was so naughty this week :( His instant reaction to anything he doesn't like is to scream vehemently. And it happens all day long, unless he is busy doing something he loves, like reading, painting, watching the iPad, or glued to my side. I am starting to think he needs constant challenges and he's too smart for his own good. This morning we made pancakes, and I asked him, "If Arley, Carmie and Mummy wanted a pancake each, how many would we need?" Of course he said "Three". Then I added Dad, and he said four. I added Lolo and Dida, and he said six. I added Aunty Georgia and Zach and Baz, and he said nine, all without skipping a beat. Then I added Bella and he said he was too tired. I think he was just bored with me asking him such mundane questions! Because he is naughty an exceptional amount of time, we are looking to getting him assessed to see if he has any sensory issues or anything. I met with them today, and he will start his assessment at the end of next month. I am really hoping they can give us some help!
This week we went to the swimming pool, we had my friend Jane over with her son Dusty for a playdate, we took Bella to Collers Beach for a runaround, and we had Carmie's friends Alice and Ness over for a tea party. It was really nice for the girls to see each other again. Arley was hard work, because he loves the girls too, but he just can't keep up, and was bugging them more than he was playing with them. I took him to the park on his own to give them a break, but I felt so bad for him being rejected. They did include him in their dress up time though, and allowed him to dance with them at their 'ball'. One day when it seemed like it was going to be particularly warm (we thought it might just be the last beach day of the season), we took the kids out to Dolphin Point. We set up the tent, relaxed for 15 minutes, then took the kids out for a paddle and a walk across the inlet. Poor little Arley promptly stepped on a bee and got stung. He was so surprised by the sudden pain in his foot that wouldn't go away, it was so sad. So, we packed up the tent and went home to watch movies with Arley and feed him ice cream until he felt better.
It rained for much of the week, and it looks like it's going to rain for much of next week too. Thank goodness for raincoats and gumboots!
