Another crazy busy week! Firstly, Arley went up a level in swimming. This is significant because he has always been SO behind the other kids his age, and now he has caught up and doesn't stand out at all as being behind. I don't mind what level he is at, I just want him to be safe in the water, and things are finally starting to click. He was quite a hellion this week though. He has been a little sick, which I am sure has been setting him off, but of course I never realise this until after the fact. So, it was a tough week as far as his behaviour was concerned, really exhausting. But today was better, so maybe he is getting over the illness and good times are ahead.
This past weekend the kids had a play date with Carmie's friend Ness and her brother. They flew kites and made sand castles at Mollymook beach. Carmie loved the kite flying, and Arley loved being dragged over the sand on a boogie board by Ness's big brother. On Monday Carmie had her Montessori day and Arley and I spent the morning at the library. On Tuesday they went to their friend's birthday party - seven homeschool kids in all, and they had so much fun. Arley was overwhelmed for the first hour or so, but settled in OK in the end. On Wednesday we went to play group (good for Carmie also because her homeschool buddies came too), and then today we went to another friend's house with the homeschool crew, and our lovely friend had the kids all bake their own bread, and then she taught us all how to felt. I loved it, and I definitely see more felting in our future. Arley was so much more settled today, it was so nice to see him happy and playing with the other kids. He got into the dress up box, and was gifted a purple princess gown, because he wouldn't take it off. Carmie loves her homeschool friends, and it is so good to see her learning and having fun at the same time.
And next week, I vow that we are having a day at home!
