382 + 278 Weeks

It has been a very difficult week.  My aunt, the sister of Colleen (Oma), passed away last week.  The kids and I picked up Lolo and drove to Bowral on Tuesday afternoon to stay the night, so that Georgia and I could travel up to Ryhope the next day to attend her funeral.  It was just the saddest thing.  We saw relatives that we haven't seen in years, and it is heartbreaking to think that it is the saddest times that bring everyone together.  It was very emotional and seemed almost surreal, and writing about it doesn't to the day, or my aunt, justice, and my heart goes out to Colleen and Dad, as well as Dyan's children and the rest of the family.

Mum stayed with Carmie and Arley in Bowral while Georgia and I were away for the day, and it just so happened that her dog of 14 years died that very day too.  We got a very distraught phone call from Mum while we were driving saying that their little chihuahua Stella had to be put to sleep that day.  Mum was very upset, and couldn't keep it in, which got Carmie upset (Arley on the other hand told her now she could get a good dog like a wolfhound!).  Carmie has cried on and off ever since.  Anyway, Geoffrey came up to Bowral to pick up Mum, so when we got back from our very sad day, they left and we took the kids trick or treating.  This was also a bust, because we went too late (who knew?!) and most of the houses were out of candy!  So, we had some crying kids on our hands, but I remedied it with a trip to the toyshop today for a little gift each.

The kids also went to a Halloween party at their drama club on Saturday night, which gave Jeffrey and I three hours to ourselves, and we actually went out to dinner, which was SO nice.  It is good to get time to ourselves.  In fact, Arley's OT has made it part of his therapy that I get half an hour to myself each week to walk on the beach or do something nice.  We are working up to half an hour a day, but that will take some time!

Arley had some really bad moments too.  He has become extremely violent with me, and it breaks my heart.  The kids had invited Hannah over on Saturday for a play, and Arley's little bestie Jemma from next door came over too, but in his head she wasn't supposed to be part of the day, and it just set him off.  If any of his world is not as he thinks it should be, all hell breaks loose.  I really feel for him, because it must be so frightening to feel out of control like that.  Anyway, therapy with a behaviour specialist is starting tomorrow morning, so hopefully that will help us a little.  Fingers crossed.  On a good note, we have discovered that Arley can spell, and he actually likes to be quizzed, so there are a couple of videos below :)

There isn't much more to say about this very sad week, as I can't seem to find the words.

At their Halloween party.  Carmie is a dragon, in case you couldn't guess!

She made me proud - drew this of her own accord without help from me!
 Trick or treating
