456 + 352 Weeks

We have made it through another week unscathed - in fact, more than unscathed, things have been really good!  It has been raining today, but the kids still managed to squeeze in their horse riding lesson before the rain this morning.  Apart from today, the weather has been good, and we have been making the most of social isolating in our most perfect environment.  We need to get the kids out to get fresh air and exercise, otherwise their energy levels sky-rocket.

On Friday of last week we went to the beach at Bawley Point.  Arley didn't want to go at first, and put up all kinds of complaints.  Once we got there, he realised how cool it is and now he wants to go there every week, so until they tire of it, Friday will be Bawley Point day.  It was quite a grey day and the ocean was extremely rough.  We walked around on the rocks to where the caves are, and we were so close to the water crashing below us that the kids (especially Carmie) were quite scared.  It wasn't at all dangerous, but it was so very loud that it felt dangerous.  But what an unbelievable beautiful spot to have morning tea!

We also got out to Collers Beach, to give the kids and Bella some exercise.  One day we took a new hike that we haven't done before, and it lead to a beautiful lookout (I see the photos now and I want to scream at the kids to stop touching the railing!).  There were tons of gnats on that walk and they were really gross, so we might not be doing that one again.  Another day we went to the Bommie (a local beach) and took a long walk.  It was pretty much deserted, and so beautiful.  I dread to think what will happen if they close our beaches here - then we'll really be in trouble.

We've been playing games, watching documentaries, and one day we got out the microscope, and now I'm a little obsessed with it.  Jeffrey got some rainwater and soil from the garden, and you would not believe the creatures that were in it!  It was a whole other world in there, kinda creepy but super interesting too.

And it was Jeff's birthday on Tuesday.  He pretty much got to relax all day, so I think he had a nice time. It was hard to buy him presents, but we had a few small gifts for him, and Carmie made him a comic book.  Arley made him a card with a $20 bill stuck inside (Jeffrey gave it back!). It was very sweet.

We are no longer seeing Lolo and Dida, so we don't get much of a break anymore.  I take the kids horse riding on Monday mornings so that Jeff gets an hour to himself, and then he takes them on Thursdays so that I get an hour to myself.  It's pretty full-on, but we are set up for this and honestly, we haven't really been too stressed or set back by this Covid-19 isolation.  Let's hope I can say the same next week!
