Boy, has it ever been a tough week, and I was just thinking about how deceiving all of my photos are! It looks like our week has been full of laughs and good cheer, when in reality it has been so tough! I knew that Arley was going to hit a rough patch with this new protocol that we are doing - the rough patch is supposed to be from a few weeks to about six weeks long, different for every kid. He has been on the full dose of his supplements for two and a half weeks. And he is obnoxious, antagonistic, buzzing with energy, rude, impulsive, lashing out...pretty much everything that we have been struggling with over the past year, all at the same time. I can't imagine how he must be feeling himself, the poor guy. It is tough for all of us, but it must be really hard for him, feeling this way all of the time. In his down time, he is still very sweet and apologetic, so I am hanging on to those moments and trying to see the light at the end of the tunnel. It is really difficult to rationalise his behaviour, because I know he hates all the chaos, but he is the one creating it. He has had some lovely moments - he has been enjoying doing lots of cutting and pasting crafts this week, and he has had some really good plays with his friend Jemma. Poor Carmie is just trying to avoid him so that she doesn't get hurt, as she often bears the brunt of his wrath. I just hope that this protocol is worth it all. He is supposed to come out the other side being very calm and clear and focused, so fingers crossed.
Carmie surprised me by levelling up in swimming this week. She was the youngest in her class already, and not the strongest swimmer, but apparently her stroke is really good and she needs to swim longer distances, so her teacher moved her up. We had our Saturday night beach dinner, and Lolo and Dida came too, which was a surprise and very nice. The kids and I have been home a fair bit too, but we have spent a lot of time outside so the kids could play on the climbing frame, and lots of scooting in the cul-de-sac. Yesterday we skipped radio because it was such a lovely day, and we opted to go to Dolphin Point for a picnic lunch and some exploring. It was SO beautiful out there. The kids got to watch the fisherman gut the fish and feed the gulls and pelicans, which they loved. It is moments like those that make me so thankful that we have made the decision to keep the kids from school. Getting the beaches and waterways to ourselves for exploring is pretty amazing.
Anyway, the Easter bunny is coming on Sunday, and the kids are a little concerned about not being able to eat chocolate this year. So, Carmie wrote the Easter bunny a letter...we will see how this pans out!
